We were down in Florida for the Unitarian Universalist General Assembly, then paid a visit to friends in Naples. Here we’re out to dinner at a Naples restaurant, on the Gulf coast. It was a very good time. More photos from our Florida trip.

IN a big upset, Kelly outpolled a group of 37 5th grade girls and actually won an award. Oh, the tears!!!!
Anyway, he is the 2008 Woodland Elementary recipient of the Optimist Club’s Greatest Human Being Ever Award. (Julie McBride, left, may think she won too, but – she didn’t). What can we say? We’re proud. Now if there are no C’s on the final report card, we’ll be even prouder. We’re, dare we say, optimists. 3 more days and we’ll be into summer break. Some people in this house can’t wait. Mom and dad are not among them.

Pete and friends were forced to pose for photos before they headed off for a Hollywood-themed night. Pete’s friends include Shane in far left corner, Olivia on Pete’s left and Kim on his right. He looked great and may have even had fun once the parents left.

We caught a Memorial Day movie, and it was a boys night pick – so we went with ‘Iron Man’ over ‘Indiana Jones’ – I thought the boys should see the original ‘Indy’ before seeing the sequels. (My brother Chris says that the second ‘Indy’ sequel,’ with Sean Connery, is one of his 10 best movies ever.)
Anyway, we liked ‘IM’ a lot – including Virginia, who liked Robert Downey Jr. I haven’t heard that much heavy metal in 2 hours since band night in 10th grade. Kelly survived the tense parts. And we’ll get caught up on ‘IJ’ before venturing back to the cineplex. Auntie Do, by the way, loved ‘Indiana Jonoes.’ But she admits to being partial to Harrison Ford.
