Amid the run of afternoon thunderstorms we had one Monday that kleft a permanent impression on us—lightning struck a tree less than 100 feet from our house, knocking loose a 15-foot piece of the tree, which went flying all about. A shard of it landed more than 100 feet away from the tree and stuck in the ground. Another, larger piece got caught up in a nearby tree. Crazy!
