Kelly took these photos while traveling with the Kahns to the Thousand Islands, before heading to Lowville, NY, for the Unirondack camp. He and his friend Alex slept in a boat one night. Pretty cool. And nice job on the photos, Kelly.

We picked up Kelly Saturday, July 19, at the Unirondack camp in the Adirondacks (upstate NY). He’d been there all week with his friend Alex. Virginia had been missing him something awful since about Tuesday. As we pulled up, down a long single-track dirt road, we saw him and his friend Alex peeking at the road looking for our car.

Hugs all around, and Kelly showed us around the camp. (Photos here.)

Best part was hearing all the kids say goodbye and so many calling to Kelly. He seemed very at home – and ain’t that a blessing.

On the way home, we stopped and visited our friend Eileen Gilligan, her husband Bard, and their kids Mac and Annie. It’s always good to catch up with old friends. And it certainly helped to break up a long trip.

Got home ’round 5:30 Sunday. Will be happy to not be in a car tonight. And gladder still to have Kelly at home.

Some company has taken the original moonwalk coverage from 40 years ago and cleaned it up. Pretty amazing.

Pete called me at 4 pm Monday and said he had free passes to see a team Tennis match at the King of Prussia Mall, and that the visiting team included Wimbledon champ Serena Williams.

Serena looked as if she walked straight off aplane onto the court, and lost to a 14-year-old (imagine the story that girl now has!). She pepped up as the night progressed, and her team eventually won in a super tiebreaker.

Team Tennis is very different but it was fun.

We owe a big thanks to Pete’s tennis instructor Kenyatta, who got us the passes.

Kelly is headed off to summer camp in upstate NY. Our friends the Kahns drove him and his friend Alex up today. They are going to the Thousand Islands first, then will return to the Unirondack camp, outside Lowville, NY. We’ll share photos when he returns.

We’ll be going here in a little over a month, as well as the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Salt Lake City, Moab, Bryce Canyon and Las Vegas. We’re starting to get excited!

So good, in fact, that Peter said it was the best movie he’s ever seen. Who would have thought?!?

The boys saw Up, but Virginia and I haven’t. Catching one Pixar movie makes you want to see the next.
